Guilty plea expected in high profile case overseen by Ripley County Prosecutor

Hertel is serving as special prosecutor

(JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.) – Another guilty plea is expected in a high profile case that is being overseen by Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel.

Former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel pleaded guilty last year to 27 felonies including theft, tax evasion and money laundering.

The charges were connected to Noel misusing millions of taxpayer dollars. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Hertel had been assigned as the prosecutor of that case and others that trials connected to Noel.

Brittany Ferree is a former Clark County Councilwoman who has a child with Noel, according to WDRB.

Noel allegedly gave her close to $115,000 for child support, trips and other expenses. Officials say that money came from the volunteer fire department association.

Ferree is expected to plead guilty and be sentenced on Friday, according to the Indiana State Police.

Another former Clark County councilmember will also stand trial in connection to the case later this year.
