Many locals are receiving this text

(SOUTHEAST INDIANA) – There are quite a few phone users in Southeast Indiana who have been receiving a scam text on Wednesday.
It claims to be from the Indiana Department of Vehicles (DMV) which is the first indication of the scam.
In our state, the appropriate agency is the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and not the DMV.
The text goes on to say that the end user has an unpaid traffic ticket and must be paid by June 6.
There is a website link further down the message. DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK!
The Indiana BMV did confirm that this is a scam and are looking into it.
Scams like this are very common and come in a wide variety of forms. Another text scam is the “unpaid toll road” scam that aims to trick users into paying.
