ISP investigating early morning shooting near Laurel

(LAUREL, Ind.) – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near Laurel early Tuesday morning. 

Investigators say a man was trying to enter a home in the 25000 block of Chapel Road around 5 a.m. when the male homeowner fired at least one shot and struck the man. 

The person attempting to enter the home was rushed to a Cincinnati hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. 

Indiana State Police investigators believe the two people involved knew each other and this was “not a random incident.” 

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made as of Tuesday night. 

The names of the men are not being released pending the outcome of the investigation. 

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Letts EMS assisted at the scene.
