MMH recognizes two associates for going above-and-beyond

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Two Margaret Mary Health employees are being recognized for making a difference in the lives of patients and colleagues. 

MMH nurse Julia Samples was the recipient of the DAISY Award while Materials Management Manager Bob Fegley was given the BEE Award. 

Daisy Award:

The DAISY Award is an international honor where patients and their families can nominate a nurse who goes above-and-beyond for them. 

Samples was nominated by one of her maternity patients who described the nurse as a person who exceeded expectations. 

“What began as a labor journey quickly turned into an emergency C-section, and in those moments of fear, uncertainty and overwhelming anxiety, Julia was my steady anchor,” the mom said. 

She added, “From the very beginning, she demonstrated a level of compassion that went far beyond expectations, not only for me, but for my baby girl and husband as well.”

BEE Award:

The BEE Award is given to a non-nursing team member who creates a positive atmosphere at work and makes a difference in the patient experience.

Fegley was nominated by MMH’s surgery team for is willingness to assist colleagues whenever he’s called upon.

“If it were not for Bob, our recent transition to the new hospital would not have been as successful as it was. He dedicated countless hours and tremendous effort to helping ensure everything went as smoothly as possible," the MMH surgery team said.

The team added, "Bob is always willing to help anyone who needs assistance, and if he does not know the answer, he makes every effort to find it"

The DAISY and BEE awards are presented twice a year, and nominations can be submitted by anyone, including patients, family members, providers and staff.

All nominations are blinded and sent to an internal committee for consideration.
