(OSGOOD, Ind.) – Jac-Cen-Del senior Shivam Patel has been awarded as Ripley County’s Lilly Endowment Scholarship winner.
Patel was selected by an independent committee which reviewed academic performance, citizenship, leadership, community involvement, school activities, and essays.
“What impressed the committee the most about Shivam was his ability to balance rigorous academics with meaningful community involvement”, said Ripley County Community Foundation executive director Amy Streator.
He will receive full tuition and required fees for four years of study at any Indiana college or university.
The other finalists were Batesville seniors Ella Carpenter and Ethan Rahschulte and Oldenburg seniors Rachel Suttman and Bridget Lohmueller.
The four semi-finalists will each receive a $2,000 scholarship from the Ripley County Community Foundation for their freshman year, followed by the Grateful Family Scholarship in their sophomore year, and the Jane Deiwert Scholarship in their junior year.
“This year’s applicant pool was exceptional, making the selection process challenging. The selection process is rigorous, and the finalists represent a bright light for Ripley County’s future,” Streator added.
