(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Some local farmers are receiving money back from Farm Credit Mid-America as part of their annual patronage distribution.
Farm Credit Mid-America is a farmer-owned cooperative and their patronage program allows eligible members to receive a portion of funds.
The cooperative said that local farmers in Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Ripley and Switzerland counties are receiving more than $3.1 million this year.
“Our customers manage risk every day. Patronage gives them a little extra flexibility, whether that’s strengthening their balance sheet, improving cash flow or helping them plan for the season ahead,” said Natasha Cox, Farm Credit Mid-America senior vice president of agricultural lending in Indiana.
Customers will typically use the payments to pay down debt, offset planting costs, reinvest in equipment or strengthen working capital.
In total, Farm Credit Mid-America will return $280 million to eligible customer-owners through its patronage program this month.
