Longtime Batesville officer retires after 2 decades of service

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A longtime Batesville Police Officer is retiring after 23 years of service.
Blake Roope began his career with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department and had also worked for the Avon Police Department.
He joined the Batesville Police Department in 2008 and has served as a detective, school resource officer and assistant chief.
One of his accolades includes being named Officer of the Year in 2017.
Many people know him best for his community-policing and involvement in events.
“To Blake it was all about the positive relationships he made with the community. He loved serving the Community of Batesville. Participating in Community Events were a true highlight of his career,” a friend said.
They added, “Blake always made sure to serve with integrity and treat everyone fair as they came in contact with him. All his successes, he attributes to the glory of God.”
Roope plans to use his new free time traveling, fishing, golfing, and attending sporting events with his wife, Megan.
