Longtime DCUF director retires after 18 years

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – It’s the final day on the job for the longtime executive director at the Decatur County United Fund.

Joane Cunningham has served in the role for 18 years and announced several months ago that her last day would be July 1.

She's been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission of building hope, health and stability for the community.

Cunningham has helped raise more than $9 million to support local nonprofits and has played a key role in expanding programs focused on early education, youth development, family stability, and essential community services.

She has also helped mobilize hundreds of volunteers during her tenure while overseeing events such as the Strawberry Festival, Day of Caring and the United Fund auction.

“Joane has been a cornerstone of DCUF’s success. Her vision and commitment have left an enduring legacy, and we are deeply grateful for her exceptional service,” DCUF board member Sally Cuskaden said.

She will be succeeded by Blaire Hornberger who was hired as the next executive director in May. Read more about her here.
