Longtime Rising Sun news reporter, photographer honored on Friday

(RISING SUN, Ind.) – Rising Sun honored a longtime fixture at sporting events on Friday night. 

Tim Hillman has served the Rising Sun community as a news reporter and photographer for more than 40 years. 

Hillman moved to Rising Sun in 1978 after meeting his wife at Purdue. 

He worked for the Rising Sun Recorder from 1979 to 2014 and then spent the past decade with Vevay Newspapers. 

Hillman has also been a referee as well as a coach of multiple sports for the past few decades in Rising Sun. 

“He has spent a lifetime putting others before himself. His impact on this community, both on and off the field is a testament to his dedication, generosity and heart for service,” a school official said. 

The school gave Hillman a plaque recognizing his 45 years of dedication to the school and community.
