(MILAN, Ind.) – Two Milan brothers have each qualified for the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals this coming weekend.
Matthew Baylor is a senior and Mason Baylor is a freshman. The two brothers have dominated on the mat this season and have a combined record of 78-2.
“It’s not an everyday thing that you get to accomplish your goals, let alone with your younger brother. It feels good to know all the work we’ve put in is paying off and it just makes it 10 times better going with my brother,” Matthew said.
Matthew is 38-1 on the season and will face a wrestler from South Haven in the first round of the state finals. Mason is 40-1 and will go against a wrestler from Lowell.
“Going to state with my brother is amazing because it’s his senior season and I’m just glad to be going with him," Mason added.
The brothers are two of just six local wrestlers who earned a trip this past weekend to the state tournament.
The IHSAA State Finals will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21. Tickets cost $20 per session or $40 for all sessions.
