(MILAN, Ind.) – The Milan Volunteer Fire Department is crediting firefighters and community members following an early morning fire.
Firefighters were dispatched around 6:45 a.m. to a barn fire on State Road 101 near East County Road 200 North.
The barn was fully engulfed in flames as it had been used for hay storage and had multiple pieces of large equipment inside.
While fighting the fire, firefighters also worked to protect other structures that were in close proximity.
Milan was assisted by Delaware, Dillsboro, Moores Hill and Sunman fire departments.
Prudenti Excavating also showed up to assist with debris removal due to the large amount of hay, and firefighters say the company’s quick response greatly assisted their efforts.
The Reservation Restaurant as well as the Holt family stopped by to offer food and coffee to the firefighters.
The Milan Fire Department is recognizing the volunteer firefighters as well as the businesses who gave their time and resources.
“Today nothing was lost that can not be rebuilt. Today hard work and dedication took center stage. Today was a perfect reminder of just how important small town community support is,” the department said.
