(MILAN, Ind.) – More than 40 local veterans are being honored through the Milan Military Banner Project.
The banners were installed last week and it was made possible by volunteers as well as supporters in the community.
The project was organized by members of the Milan Lions Club, Milan American Legion and the Milan Sons of the American Legion. Committee members include Walt Ruggles, Clark Neighborgall, Mike Kissell, Andy Schwier, Kris Clark and Sandy Knecht.
Several organizations and an individual also supported the cause through generous donations.
The Milan American Legion, Milan VFW, SEI Communications and Civista Bank each provided $500 each.
Ron Meyers donated $300 while Napoleon State Bank and Hoosier Hills Water District chipped in $250 each.
Derf Tree Service also volunteered their time to hang the banners.
“Community partnerships are at the heart of everything we do,” said Andy Schwier, President of Milan Lions Club.“When local businesses step up to support our mission, they’re not only helping our organization succeed, they’re investing in the strength and future of our entire community. We are deeply grateful for their commitment and generosity.”
The project is still accepting applications for future banners. You can learn more by calling Schwier at (812) 621-1451.
