(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Every student at three local elementary schools received a winter hat and gloves before the Christmas break.
The initiative is led by Candice Feller who is the mother of students who attend Milan. She has named the program ‘Warmth Without Walls.’
Last year, she collected and dispersed more than 600 hats and 790 gloves for students at Milan Elementary.
However, she felt compelled to expand the project to more schools.
Feller hosted a massive yard sale in August where the proceeds went toward the Warmth Without Walls initiative.
Earlier this month, she visited Milan Elementary, South Ripley Elementary and Dillsboro Elementary where every student received a hat and gloves.
It totaled more than 1,331 donations with some extras given to Milan Middle School.
“Because of your kindness, our students will stay warm this winter and feel the love of a community that truly cares. We are so grateful for your support and generosity,” said Milan Elementary Principal Travis Rohrig.
