Milan official called for town marshal to be fired

(MILAN, Ind.) – There were fiery exchanges during the Town of Milan’s monthly meeting on Monday night.
It was standing room only as the majority of residents attended the meeting in regard to an agenda item that was submitted by Melissa Teer.
Teer serves as Milan Clerk-Treasurer but said she submitted the agenda item as a private citizen.
“I have concerns along with a lot of other people that I want to bring to the forefront here,” Teer said.
She said the town has experienced a steady decline in overall appearance over the past few years. Teer referenced property maintenance violations, dilapidated buildings, abandoned homes, and trash.
“I attribute this decline to the duties of Town Marshal Terry Wilson,” Teer exclaimed.
It sent jolts through the crowd as both supporters and opponents reacted as Teer called for Wilson to be removed from his job.
“It is my sincere hope that you as a Town Council, representing the citizens, will give this appropriate consideration,” Teer added.
Town Council member Drew Olman responded by describing Teer’s public presentation as unprofessional.
“As an elected official, you could have come to us at any time and talked about your concerns along with the things you don’t like about another employee," Olman said.
That was followed by several heated exchanges as attendees voiced concerns about various issues. One person was even asked to leave the meeting.
There was no formal adoption or council comment regarding Teer’s request to remove Wilson from his position as Town Marshal.
