Milan state champion, racer to continue wrestling in college

(MILAN, Ind.) – Milan state champion wrestler Kayla Roell is taking her athletic talents to college!
Roell has announced that she will join the wrestling team at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Kayla says she will also pursue a nursing degree while in college.
She won the inaugural IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championship in 2025 by defeating a wrestler in the 120-pound class. Read that story here.
Kayla isn’t just a standout female wrestler. She’s also a talented race car driver!
Roell has won numerous sprint and midget car races and we first spotlighted her in 2022.
“As I do say this though, if any opportunities come upon me at the right time I will be back in the racecar here and there,” she said during her wrestling announcement.
