(DULUTH, MN.) – More than 80 runners took part in a 5K to raise awareness of homelessness on Saturday.
The Miles for the Mission 5K in Duluth, Minnesota was organized by a church.
The runners took the same route that homeless people take during the winter to reach warming centers.
“Your journey along the way may be treacherous but that is what our guests go through everyday. The sidewalks may be covered and slippery, the winds may pick up, but imagine having 90 pounds of everything you own on your back,” an organizer said.
The event also raised funds that directly support the essential programs provided by the Union Gospel Mission Church in Duluth.
