(MOOREFIELD, Ind.) – A local fire department will continue their annual ice cream social fundraiser on June 28.
The Moorefield Community Fire Department is making more than 100 gallons of homemade ice cream which will be available for dine-in or carry out.
This unique fundraiser helps provide funding for firefighting equipment and upgrades for the department.
“Gear for one firefighter is around $6,500 and needs to be replaced every 10 years. Equipment to keep the firehouse going can be up into the thousands of dollars,” the department said.
The ice cream social takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse which is located at 8124 S.R. 129 in Vevay.
There will also be desserts, hot dogs and drinks available.
