(NOBLESVILLE, Ind.) – A recent North Decatur graduate has been elected to FFA statewide office.
Garrett Schwering was named the Indiana State FFA Treasurer for the 2026-2027 school year.
Schwering is one of only seven members statewide who earned the nomination after an extremely competitive process.
He spent the past four years involved in numerous activities at North Decatur including Student Council, National Honor Society, Class President, Yearbook and basketball.
Schwering also created his own business called Garrett's Greenhouse and has been involved in numerous community functions such as Decatur County United Fund, religious education teacher, Unified track member, Farm Bureau Board Member and volunteer.

Garrett calls it an honor to not only represent his chapter and the district, but now FFA statewide.
“I am blessed with this opportunity to better the future of agriculture and the FFA organization. The state treasurer has been represented by southeastern Indiana the last three years. I am so excited to begin this next chapter of my life,” he said.
Schwering also credits his North Decatur FFA Advisors Katie Morman and Alaina Kessler for the guidance they have provided along the way.

He and the other state officers will defer their college education for one year to serve Indiana FFA as youth ambassadors. Garrett will live at the Indiana FFA Leadership Center for the next year.
“During their year of service, which begins and ends at the annual State Convention, these officers will travel the state presenting seven leadership conferences and speaking to an estimated 14,000 FFA members, supporters and individuals involved in leadership and agriculture,” Indiana FFA said.
