(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Historical Society is asking the community to respect any mementos or tributes that are left at the World War II Honor Roll.
The replica Honor Roll was unveiled at Newtown Park in Lawrenceburg on July 4 and it features the names of more than 2,900 local soldiers.
“We kindly ask that any flowers, photographs, flags, mementos, or other personal tributes placed by family members, friends, or visitors be treated with the utmost respect and left undisturbed,” the Historical Society said.
Officials ask the community to treat the WWII memorial with dignity and added that the area is under video surveillance.
“If anything has been unintentionally removed from the memorial, we kindly ask that it be returned so it may continue to honor those for whom it was left,” they added.
The Honor Roll will only be on display at Newtown Park for the month of July before it is permanently placed at the Lawrenceburg Community Center.
