(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A patriotic gesture by two Batesville boys nearly five years ago has resurfaced on some national platforms.
Cristiano Barajas and Lane Moody were third graders in September 2021.
They were riding their bicycles through town when they noticed a funeral service that was in progress at the Batesville Methodist Cemetery.
The funeral was for 89-year-old Charles Yorn who was an Army veteran and had passed away on August 29, 2021.
Christiano and Lane stopped their bicycles and stood silently to show their respects.
That's when Batesville resident Jacqi Hornbach noticed the two boys and was impressed by their actions.
“TAPS started playing and these boys put down their backpacks, had no idea anyone was watching, and stood with their arms behind their backs, respectfully saluting this soldier who passed away and his family,” Jacqi Hornbach told The 812.
She posted a photo on Facebook and before long Christiano and Lane’s show of respect was featured on news outlets across the country, including Fox News and People Magazine.
Fast forward to 2026, and that moment has resurfaced on some large social media accounts.

The Hodge Twins are comedians and conservative commentators. They made a post on their Facebook page that has 7.6M followers on Saturday. Check out that post by clicking here.
Another account called ‘Jake Boys’ shared it to their 1.9M Facebook followers and it has garnered more than 53,000 reactions since Friday.
