Oldenburg couple celebrating 70th anniversary Tuesday

(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – An Oldenburg couple is celebrating a major milestone today! 

Melvin and Marceda Paul are enjoying their 70th wedding anniversary as they were married on April 21, 1956 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. 

Melvin is 92-years-old and Marceda is 91-years-old. Oldenburg residents know them better by their nicknames of Metz and Skeeter. 

They’ve been members of Holy Family Parish in Oldenburg since they were married and still live in the house they built more than 60 years ago. 

Melvin is a Batesville graduate who served in the Army. He later worked as a mailman in the Cincinnati-area and walked the same 8-mile route everyday for 25 years. 

In 2023, he received hundreds of cards from across the Tri-State as he turned 90.
