Police: Teen targeted high school SRO first

(SEYMOUR, Ind.) – Nobody was seriously hurt after what could have been a tragic day in Seymour on Wednesday.

Police were called to the Jackson County Library around noon for a report of an active shooter.

Authorities quickly responded to the library and arrested 18-year-old Emiliano Cuevas-Bravo, of Seymour.

Cuevas-Bravo allegedly entered the library and fired a gun toward two employees, causing a woman to sustain non-life threatening injuries.

ISP investigators say the teen went to the second floor of the library and placed the gun on the floor.

“A patron of the library then tackled him and held him there for law enforcement officers,” said ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.

He was arrested as police launched an investigation that revealed disturbing details.

Earlier in the day, Cuevas-Bravo allegedly went to Seymour High School to target a school resource officer.

“Cuevas-Bravo never entered the school or made contact with the officer before he eventually left and went to the library,” Wheeles added.

The teen has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder as the investigation is still ongoing.
