(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Decatur County high schoolers had the opportunity to explore future career interests on Wednesday.
The fourth annual Opportunity Expo was organized by the Economic Development Corporation of Greensburg/Decatur County (EDC) and the Greensburg JAG Program.
Juniors and seniors from Greensburg, North Decatur and South Decatur had the chance to learn about various career paths from 65 local organizations.
The organizations represented a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, first responders, city and county offices, agriculture, military, business, nonprofits, banking and more.
“It’s a way to get kids a face-to-face experience, not only to ask what jobs are available but to also talk about careers,” said EDC Executive Director. “We have some great people here participating with a vast amount of knowledge that can help them learn how to get into these careers.”
Students also had access to valuable career resources including resume feedback and free professional headshots.
The expo raises money for Decatur County EDC’s annual teacher grant which benefits educators at all three county schools.
“The Opportunity Expo has been a success and that is all due to the people participating, both on the student and school side, as well as the businesses and organizations that are here,” Robbins added.
