(OSGOOD, Ind.) – Osgood resident Debbie Roark heard about the deadly flooding in Texas and couldn’t get it off her mind.
“I have a granddaughter that was at a church camp in Tennessee when it happened, and not once I didn’t think she wouldn’t come home,” Roark said.
Roark is a member of Cedar Creek Community Church in Osgood and called her pastor.
She had a strong urge to help the victims in Texas and her pastor said he had similar thoughts.
Her idea was to collect donations to assist with cleanup. It all came together when she called Keith Scheible, who attends her church and also works at StoneBridge Trucking.
“He called me back and said StoneBridge Trucking will donate a truck and fuel to deliver the products,” she said.
Roark and Cedar Creek Community Church are now collecting donations that will be sent to the area of Kerrville, Texas.
The church has placed boxes at several different locations where you can drop off donations:
IGA Versailles
BP in Osgood
Versailles Farm & Garden
Whistle Stop in Osgood
Halcomb Home Center in Versailles
Greensburg Daily News
Ripley County Publishing
Items they are collecting include:
Bug Spray
Bleach
Gloves
Masks
Lysol
Wipes
Sponges
Trash Bags
The church will also accept monetary donations where they will purchase supplies that aren’t donated.
You can donate now through August 8. The StoneBridge truck with supplies will head to Texas on August 10.
There will also be a donation drive at the church from 3-7 p.m. from August 4th through 8th. The church is located at 435 West County Road 150 North in Osgood.
