Phone scam alleges resident missed jury duty in Dearborn County

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Scammers are targeting local residents through a phone scam.
They claim that the victim was absent from a federal grand jury hearing in Dearborn County, and ask why you were not present.
“The scammers then claim there is a warrant for your arrest and try to get money from you,” the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office said.
This is a scam and local law enforcement agencies do not conduct business in that manner.
“And would never ask you to pay us money over the phone,” the sheriff’s office added.
