Made possible through a grant

(ST. LEON, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Retired Teachers Foundation provided grant funding for a unique program at East Central High School.

FCCLA Advisor Brenda Osman had applied for a grant for “Future Fashionistas!”

The funding provided half-scale dress forms for students in the Advanced Fashion class, to practice draping and design on a much smaller scale.

"These dress forms are such a great idea, because it is much easier to practice designing and we do not need as much fabric to develop our designs,” one student said.

Students are able to see how fabric drapes perform on dresses and also learn about elements and principles of design.

East Central’s Fashion and Textiles Career Pathway offers courses in apparel, merchandising, advanced textiles and fashion.

Osman added, “We would like to thank the Dearborn County Retired Teachers for sponsoring this grant!”
