Photos: Progress continues on Oldenburg's Maypole Heritage Project

(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Construction is continuing on a project that was made possible by Oldenburg Academy students.
The Maypole Heritage Project includes the resurfacing of the basketball court along with a walking trail that connects to the town’s existing sidewalks and trails.
The project came to life after OA students launched a fundraising campaign where they raised more than $25,000, which led to a state matching grant for a total of $50,000.
“The Maypole Heritage Park project is a shining example of what can happen when our community comes together,” said Innovation Council moderator Jason Walke.
The Freudenfest Committee and the Town of Oldenburg also secured a grant through the Indiana DNR for the walking trail.
The path will feature memorial benches, with plans to eventually add a
community gathering shelter and landscaping
The basketball court will also include three pickleball courts once its complete.
