(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Most people know about Greensburg's famous tree growing out of the courthouse.
However, few get to see what the courthouse tower looks like from the inside.
Visit Greensburg is giving a behind-the-scenes look of the courthouse tower.
The current 115-foot clock tower was built in 1860. Not long after, the first of many trees appeared in the early 1870’s. The courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973
“Surprisingly, you can’t actually see the tree’s roots from inside the peak of the tower,” Visit Greensburg said.
