Police: Medical issue may have led to fatal crash on Stateline Road Wednesday

(GREENDALE, Ind.) – A Lawrenceburg man may have suffered a medical issue which led to a fatal crash on Wednesday. 

Greendale Police say 70-year-old David Gentrup was driving in 19000 block of Stateline Road when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. 

Gentrup had to be extricated from the vehicle and first responders performed lifesaving measures, however he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

“It is believed that the driver may have experienced a major medical episode prior to the crash although the crash remains under investigation at this time,” Greendale Police Chief Shane Slack said. 

Greendale Police were assisted by Greendale Fire and EMS, Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and the Dearborn County Coroner’s office.
