(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – One person passed away after a car struck a home in Greensburg on Friday night.

Police were called around 8 p.m. after witnesses saw a vehicle on State Road 3 go into the median and then back onto the roadway, before traveling into a cornfield.

First responders tracked the vehicle through the cornfield and it was found crashed into a home in the 1600 block of West State Road 46.

"The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and unresponsive when located,” Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose said.

50-year-old George Harold Ramsey, of Shelbyville, was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office is investigating what led to the crash.

Deputies were assisted by Decatur County Communications, Greensburg Police Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County Coroner’s Office, and Tim’s Wrecker Service
