(LIBERTY, Ind.) – A person is accused of attempting to kill two Union County deputies last month.
Investigators say two deputies were investigating an accident on U.S. Route 27 on September 3.
“While performing their duties, the deputies were allegedly targeted by a subject who appeared to attempt to run them over with his truck while traveling at a high rate of speed,” the Liberty Police Department said.
Nobody was hurt and police arrested the suspect shortly after the incident.
The Liberty Police Department released information about the case on Sunday and have not identified the suspect.
Investigators said the individual is being held at a neighboring county’s jail pending the trial. The person has been charged with Attempted Murder.
“We are grateful that our deputies were not injured and commend their professionalism and courage under extreme circumstances,” police added.
