Group purchased land last week

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – There is an effort underway to bring an aquatics center to Batesville.
Its led by nonprofit Citizens Aquatic Center who say they they’ve reached a pivotal moment by purchasing land for the center.
The 18-acre parcel is located just east of Batesville Primary School and it was sold by the Koester family.
“This acquisition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to creating a comprehensive aquatic hub that will serve athletes, families, and individuals seeking therapeutic and recreational water activities,” a representative of Citizens Aquatic said.
The group will conduct a feasibility study to determine the size, scope and features of the facility.
The project is totally sustained through community donations and corporate sponsorships, with ongoing fundraising initiatives.
The nonprofit was established in 2023 with the vision of building a facility that will feature an Olympic-sized pool, adequate spectator seating and aquatic space for roughly 200 swimmers.
They also hope to integrate a warm-water therapy pool in the initial design.
