(DILLSBORO, Ind.) – Dearborn County leaders are considering the implementation of a TIF district in the Dillsboro area.
The proposed 1,400-acre district along U.S. 50 would be intended to support and
encourage economic development, while addressing blighted properties in Lake
Dilldear.
SEI Communications is currently building a data center within the area and the
proposed Clay Township U.S. 50 Economic Development Area and Allocation
Area would properly capture the tax increase on the data center property.
Officials added that the proposed TIF area would not change current land uses,
development could only happen with property owner permission and proper
permits, and there would be no eminent domain.
They also say this measure is intended to complement the County’s new sewer
line from Dillsboro to Lake Dilldear, and is part of a larger strategy to ensure
Dillsboro’s future remains strong.
The Dearborn County Redevelopment Commission will hold a public hearing at 5
p.m. on Monday, December 8. It will be held at the Dearborn County Government
Center.
The commission is currently accepting written feedback which must be filed by
4:30 p.m. Monday. The responses can be sent to:
