A moment of remembrance was held before the races
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A beloved local racer was celebrated at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday night.
The inaugural Zack Bolton Memorial Race honored the 37-year-old who passed away from a cancer battle in April.
Beyond the racetrack, Zack was known for having a soft spot for kids and the inaugural race gave back to children in a big way.
There were more than 70 bicycles and 20 scooters that were given to kids in attendance.
The bicycles and scooters were donated by community members, including racecar drivers.

Zack’s sister, Amanda Freeman, helped coordinate the bicycle giveaway and also expressed her gratitude to the community.
“There truly are good people out there and they’ve been extremely generous. Even those who are competitors on the racetrack have come together for Zack and our family,” Amanda said.
Before the race, Zack’s father, Ricky Bolton, drove Zack’s car on the track as the crowd stood for a moment of remembrance.
“Zack was a very humble person and he was always smiling. So to see all of the smiling faces here at the track tonight has been amazing,” Amanda added.
She added that Zack would have not liked all the attention because he was a humble person, however she described the evening as a remarkable event.
