Rep. Houchin helps secure $7M grant for Madison Railroad

(MADISON, Ind.) – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (R-District 9) says she helped to secure a $7.9 million federal grant to improve the safety and reliability of the Madison Railroad.
The funding approval comes after Rep. Houchin’s letter of support to Federal Railroad Administration Administrator David Fink on behalf of the City of Madison Port Authority.
The City of Madison Port Authority was awarded a $7,915,813 grant through the Federal Railroad Administration’s Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program.
This funding will address critical safety concerns along seven miles of the century-old Madison Railroad, helping preserve and improve a vital piece of infrastructure.
“I was proud to support the Madison Port Authority’s application and help bring this significant investment to Madison. This funding will address critical safety needs and help ensure this historic railroad can serve Southern Indiana for another century,” Rep. Houchin said.
