S.R. 46 bridge over Whitewater River to close for repairs until November

Expected to close as early as Monday

(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) – The State Road 46 bridge over the Whitewater River in West Harrison is expected to close for an extended amount of time. 

Beginning as soon as Monday, the bridge will be closed until November for repairs. 

The road will be closed between U.S. 52 and Barber Road during the project.

After it opens in November, it will close again in Spring 2026 for additional repairs. 

The official detour will route drivers from U.S. 52 to I-74 to State Road 1.

The project is part of a $10.6M contract that the Indiana Department of Transportation awarded to Beaty Construction last year.
