Batesville-area homeowners were targeted last summer

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The warmer weather is here and so are some opportunities for you or your loved ones to get scammed.
There were multiple reports last summer of a paving scam targeting homeowners in the Batesville area.
The scam involves a contractor who claims to have extra paving supplies and is willing to repair or upgrade a homeowner’s driveway.
Since they're already working nearby, they can give you a discount. If the price is agreeable, they might ask for a large percentage of the fee upfront. Once the transaction is complete, the scam contractor may disappear altogether or become difficult to reach.
This is a nationwide scam but several local homeowners believe they were approached by a team of possible scammers last summer.
The Better Business Bureau has also warned against the scam. Read more here.
