(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Authorities say scammers are attempting to target the family members of inmates.
Lawrenceburg Police say scammers are pretending to be local law enforcement agencies and asking for bond or bail money.
“We will not initiate calls requesting bail payments and do not accept bitcoin as a payment method,” the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office said.
The jail does not solicit for bond or bail fees and police do not ask for money to make a warrant go away.
“Please do not send any money, gift cards, bitcoin, or give any personal information,” police added.
Contact the sheriff’s office or go there in-person if you have any questions or concerns.
