Established through the Ripley County Community Foundation
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A new scholarship through the Ripley County Community Foundation will benefit Batesville High School band members.
The Dale & Sandra Dickey Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a member of the BHS band who plays an instrument, with preference given to a trumpet player.
Dale Dickey was a member of the BHS choir and was a trumpet player in the band. He graduated in 1965 and after attending Southern Ohio College, he served in Vietnam as a member of the Army. He had a long career in sales and passed away in 2021.
Sandra graduated in 1970 from Jac-Cen-Del High School where she participated in choir and marched with the band as a majorette and flag corps member. She also brought a love of music to young children while owning Jack and Jill Preschool.

She established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Dale, with the intention of offsetting the cost of a college degree and to ensure their love for music continues to be a priority in the community.
“I created this fund to ensure that Dale and my love for music would continue to be a priority in our schools and community,” stated Sandra Dickey.
