(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) is reacting after the proposed congressional redistricting map was rejected by a vote yesterday.
Sen. Leising had voiced opposition to the measure and was also the target of an alleged pipe bomb hoax a few weeks ago.
She was among 21 Republicans and 10 Democratic senators who voted against the redistricting plan.
Leising said, "Mid-cycle congressional redistricting in Indiana failed on the Senate floor yesterday with my 'no' vote.”
She added, “I believe it is time to move on to our normal session schedule and focus on issues affecting our local communities, like addressing the availability of affordable rural health care and good jobs so Indiana residents can provide for their families.”
The Indiana General Assembly will reconvene in January for their regular sessions.
