(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County United Fund (DCUF) didn’t have to look far to find their next student board member.
South Decatur’s Makayla Somers held the role for two years before she graduated this past weekend.
Somers was an active volunteer for the organization and engaged in board governance, policy reviews, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities
“Makayla is an outstanding student and will do very well at Butler University. The United Fund has been fortunate to have Makayla serve on the board and appreciates her desire to give back to her community,” said DCUF Executive Director Joanne Cunningham.
With her graduating, it was time to find the next student board member.
Makayla’s sister, Taylor is an incoming junior at South Decatur and has been selected for the role.
Taylor is a two-sport athlete and involved in numerous school organizations. She is also a Legal Assistant at Cline King and King PC. She will serve a two-year term from June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2027.
“Taylor will gain greater knowledge of board governance, policies, procedures, finance, and our community during her tenure on the Decatur County United Fund board,” said Cunningham, Executive Director for Decatur County United Fund.
Taylor will serve in the role until May 2027. Get more information by calling DCUF at 812-663-3342.
