South Ripley's Rob Moorhead named District 8 Superintendent of the Year

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – South Ripley Superintendent Rob Moorhead has been named District 8 Superintendent of the Year by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS). 

Moorhead was chosen by fellow superintendents for exemplifying leadership, professional accomplishments and impact on students and schools. 

He will now be considered for Indiana Superintendent of the Year which will be announced in July. 

“Being selected as the District VIII Superintendent of the Year is a tremendous honor, especially to be chosen by my fellow superintendents across Southeast Indiana. I am proud to represent such an outstanding group of leaders who are deeply committed to serving their students and communities. This recognition is truly a reflection of the exceptional work happening every day at South Ripley,” Moorhead said. 

Some recent initiatives he has led include the Attend and Engage Program which addresses chronic absenteeism among students. It has reduced unexcused absences by 20 percent.   

Moorhead also led the Cognia accreditation which established a clear district-wide framework focused on accountability, strategic planning, and student-centered continuous improvement.

South Ripley was named a Cognia District of Distinction in 2023 which was only given to 11 districts in the world.

He was also recognized for the recent baseball and softball field upgrade in coordination with the Cincinnati Reds. 

“Under Moorhead’s leadership, South Ripley Community School Corporation has become recognized for innovation, collaboration, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement,” IAPSS stated. “In addition to academic and organizational leadership, Moorhead has emphasized transparency, fiscal responsibility, and innovative community partnerships.”
