South Ripley's Rob Moorhead named President of IAPSS

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – South Ripley’s Rob Moorhead has just been elected as the President of the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) for the upcoming school year. 


The IAPSS was established in 1960 with the focus of improving the educational process, promoting the effective operation of schools, and developing new superintendents.


Moorhead was elected President during a ceremony in Lawrenceburg Friday. The luncheon was attended by Indiana Secretary of Education Katie Jenner, numerous superintendents from our area as well as Rob's friends and family.


He fills the role that was previously held by the superintendent of Beech Grove Schools and is the just the second from our area to be elected IAPSS President. Former Batesville Superintendent Dr. James Freeland once held the role.

Moorhead has served as South Ripley Superintendent since 2012 and has been instrumental  in driving significant improvements in academic achievement, expanding student programs, and fostering a collaborative school community. 


He previously worked as a math teacher, head basketball coach, associate principal, and principal at South Dearborn High School for 25 years. 


“We are proud to have Rob Moorhead leading IAPSS as our President this year,” said Dr. Robert Taylor, Executive Director of IAPSS. “Rob brings a strong track record of leadership, a clear vision for the future, and a deep dedication to public education. His guidance will be instrumental in advancing our mission and strengthening the support we provide to school leaders across Indiana.”

Rob’s wife, Lisa, currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Student Success at Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg and Batesville campuses. 


The couple has two sons who are both local head basketball coaches. Brad is the new varsity coach at South Dearborn while Trent is in his fourth season as varsity coach at Hauser.
