South Ripley student wins statewide DAR essay contest

A banquet will be held in the spring

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – A South Ripley eighth grader finished in first place in a statewide essay contest!
Matthew Wood won the Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) contest, where students write essays on a selected topic related to American history.
Wood first won the local contest and then competed at the state level where he has earned first place.
There will be a banquet to celebrate the local achievement in April with a state banquet planned for May.
His essay will also be submitted for the DAR National Convention in Washington, D.C. in June.
