(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- The Southeastern Indiana YMCA will continue to serve families despite the freeze on childcare vouchers.
The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration recently announced that the freeze on new Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) childcare vouchers — originally intended as temporary — will remain in effect, leaving thousands of families statewide on a waiting list for financial assistance.
Despite this, the YMCA Learning Center continues to support families who need dependable, high-quality childcare so parents can remain in the workforce and children can thrive.
“Every child deserves a safe, nurturing place to learn and grow, and every parent deserves peace of mind while they work or pursue education,” said Tara Britton, Chief Executive Officer of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA. “We remain committed to supporting families, regardless of their financial situation, and we continue to work closely with local and state legislators to advocate for renewed funding and long-term solutions.”
The YMCA is nationally-accredited and provides childcare and education for infants through preschool age.
“Teachers strive to mirror home routines—helping families establish balanced eating, sleeping, and play schedules—and provide personalized attention with low classroom ratios,” stated the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.
YMCA Learning Center staff are trained professionals dedicated to building strong foundations for lifelong learning. Families are welcomed into an inclusive community where all children are valued and nurtured.
“The Y has always been here for working families,” says McKenzie Callahan, Learning Center Childcare Director. “Even when funding is uncertain, our mission remains the same: to strengthen community by ensuring all children have access to safe, reliable care and opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.”
Families who are currently on the CCDF waitlist or seeking childcare are encouraged to contact the Southeastern Indiana YMCA Learning Center at (812)932-1415, and visit www.siymca.org.
