(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – The nonprofit Stayin’ Alive provided five grants during their recent Coalition Celebration in Brookville.
Stayin’ Alive granted $2,500 to Franklin County High School After Prom to support the purchase of prizes and inflatables in a substance-free environment.
They also gave $2,983 to YouthQuake Club, which is a program that empowers high school students through a peer-led, volunteer-based council that promotes abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
A $4,000 grant and a $1,480 grant was given to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Brookville Police Department to support their National Night Out initiatives.
Stayin’ Alive also provided the Franklin County School Corporation with $5,480 to fund a random drug testing program designed to deter substance use among students participating in athletics, extracurriculars, and co-curricular activities.
One of the key funding mechanisms for Stayin’ Alive is the Countermeasure Fee Program. These fees—collected from individuals convicted of substance-related offenses—are reinvested directly into the community through annual grant awards.
The Stayin’ Alive Coalition meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 4:00 PM, with the exception of December.
“Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, our November meeting will be held on Thursday , November 20 at the Franklin County Community Foundation,” Executive Director Bethany Luers said.
