(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – A former Switzerland County soccer standout thought her athletic career came to an end in high school.
Last year, Halle Archer attended Indiana University in Bloomington and majored in Nursing.
One year away from the field reminded her of how much she loves the game.
Archer decided to transfer to IU Columbus and be part of the soccer team
On Wednesday, Archer and her IU Columbus teammates traveled to Ohio Christian University.
Late in the match, Archer scored her first collegiate goal. It helped IU Columbus tie Ohio Christian for a final score of 1-1.
The goal is a full circle moment for the former Pacers standout who thought her athletic career had come to an end in 2023.
“I hope that people and younger girls know that even if you think you know where you want to go in life, God will always show you the path he wants you to be on,” she said.
There are several Southeast Indiana natives on the team including Switzerland County’s Avy Burkholder, Franklin County’s Madison Merritt and Madesyn Sunderhaus, Oldenburg Academy’s Rachel Lamping, South Dearborn’s Madalynn Phillips, Jennings County’s Alexa Mollenhoff and Greensburg’s Emma McQueen.
