Two longtime officers to retire this week in Oldenburg

(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Two longtime police officers will end their careers this week.

Oldenburg Town Marshall Bill Dramann will conclude his 57-year law enforcement career by working his final shift on Wednesday.

Dramann started with the Batesville Police Department in 1969 before joining the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office where he served two terms as sheriff.

He later served as Sunman Town Marshal for eight years before joining Oldenburg.

Bill says his favorite part of policing has been the ability to help people.

“Sometimes we have to give a ticket or make an arrest, but the real joy is when you help somebody and they appreciate it,” Dramann said.

Another veteran officer on the Oldenburg Police Department is also retiring this week.

Officer Eric Moenter has served the citizens of Oldenburg since 1997. Wednesday will also mark his final day in uniform.

“Nobody ever mentions it, but the wife of a police officer has to put up with a lot. Just the hours of the job but getting called out at all hours of the night. I am looking forward to spending more time with her and the entire family," Moenter said in September.

Together, Moenter and Dramann have combined for more than 87 years of law enforcement experience.

A third Oldenburg officer, Doug Wolfer, has been in law enforcement for 40 years. He will remain on the job as the Town has hired former Sunman officer Adam Boesken to serve as the new Marshal.
