Volunteer fire departments can apply for $10K State Farm grant by Friday

Eligibility requirements below

(GUILFORD, Ind.) – Local volunteer fire departments are eligible for a grant through State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council.

Eligible departments could receive a $10,000 grant for equipment that will improve firefighter safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.

However, there is a very short grant period as the application process began Wednesday and it will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

To be eligible for the grant, the department must be over 50 percent volunteer, serve a population of 25,000 or less, most recent fiscal year revenue did not exceed  $250,000, and must demonstrate what the funds would be used for.

There can only be one application submitted by departments and the agency must be willing to share a department photo or video and publicize the award.

Local State Farm agent Danette Volpenhein made us aware of the award and encourages departments to apply.
