(CONNERSVILLE, Ind.) – A local girl has a huge passion for animals and the outdoors!
Haley Bowden was 6-years-old when she first appeared on The 812 because she was raising money for the Australia Zoo.
She is now 9-years-old and her passion has grown even more. Bowden volunteers on a regular basis at the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary in Connersville.
“My favorite outdoor activity is doing Saw-whet owl banding at the bird sanctuary. We set up nets, check for/band owls. We document gender, age, and many other factors to help with research,” she said.
Haley needs your votes as she is in a nationwide contest to become National Jr. Ranger.
If she wins, she would appear in a Ranger Rick magazine, learn from wildlife expert and television personality Jeff Corrwin and also receive $20,000.
“If I win the money I would donate some of it to the animal shelter and the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary,” she said.
Voting ends at 7 p.m. on Thursday May, 29.
